GILLECE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Is Seeking Democrat Endorsement for State Representative in the new 43rd District

 

Pawcatuck, CT: Democrat Ashley Gillece, single Mom from Pawcatuck has announced that she will run to be the next state representative of the new 43rd District. Gillece, a long-time resident of Pawcatuck, has been active in politics for over 16 years and a member of the Stonington Democratic Town Committee for almost a decade. She has served as a member of the Stonington Charter Reform Commission and has worked and volunteered on countless Democratic campaigns. Gillece has also been a strong advocate working across party lines on multiple issues ensuring Pawcatuck voices are heard and will continue to do so for the entire 43rd district. 

 

Gillece is seeking the endorsement of the district’s Democrats at the district convention, Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00 pm. The new district will include a portion of Stonington including Pawcatuck and residences north of I-95. The 43rd will include that portion of Stonington along with the towns of North Stonington and the eastern areas of Ledyard. 

 

“Like many in the 43rd, I have watched multiple votes in Hartford over the past two years that do not align with what I believe is best for our district. Recent No votes on abortion protections as well as votes agianst a state budget that included over $600 million in tax breaks for middle-class families has led me to this point where I need to stand up for those whose voices have not been heard.” Ashley Gillece said from home with her son in Pawcatuck on Tuesday.

 

Gillece is running to be a strong voice for Women's Rights as well as working-class families across the district. She will be a voice for affordable healthcare including mental health, a voice for those affected by the opioid crisis, and a voice fighting for Veterans to receive the services they deserve. It is with great pleasure to announce her candidacy for the 43rd district to represent all residents in Stonington, North Stonington and Ledyard.
